What personal data we collect and why we collect it

When you apply to become a member of the association we collect your name and email address so that we can correspond with you. We collect information about your role in the teaching and/or research of youth ministry so that we can assess your application for membership.

When you register for membership of the association, we collect your first name, last name, email address, and shipping address so that we can correspond with you and send you print copies of Journal of Youth and Theology. You have the opportunity to share details about your role in the teaching and/or research of youth ministry that can be made available for the information of other association members.

Where we store your data

Your personal data will not only be stored in the website’s database but also in MailChimp, the application we use to send our newsletters and campaign.

Your membership data is stored in a WordPress website on servers located in Australia and the United States of America using companies that are compliant with the European GDPR.

Who we share your data with

Your name, email address, and shipping address is shared with Turpin Distribution Services Ltd, UK, the distribution house used by Brill publishers for mailing Journal of Youth and Theology. You can access the privacy policies for Turpin and Brill here:

How long we retain your data

We hold personal data for website users (including members and applicants for membership) indefinitely. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.

What rights you have over your data

All users can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.
